ALL SOUTH AFRICAN LOCAL AND REGIONAL COUNTRY RENTERS, RENTING A GROUP I, MUST PRESENT TWO CREDIT CARDS AT TIME OF RENTAL. PREFERRED RENTERS ARE NOT EXCEMPT FROM THIS RULE. IF A SECOND CREDIT CARD CANNOT BE PRESENTED, THE RENTAL CANNOT TAKE PLACE.

(This is the amount that is held on a renting customer’s payment card when picking up their vehicle)
Authorisation held on the customer's credit card is calculated as follows: Rental charge with an average of 130km per day x rental days (time and mileage), $170.00 fuel (depending on rate of exchange at time of check out), waivers, miscellaneous charges , one way fees, counter products if rented, contract fee and tax. Excludes location surcharges. Additional weekend authorisation will apply for all weekend and local rentals that check out on a Thursday or Friday as follows: Coastal Branches - R3 500.00 on all car groups. Inland branches - car groups A to E R7 500.00, car group F and above R10 000.00. Should a renter present a boarding pass at check out, this additional authorisation will not be taken.

Driving License Requirements / Restrictions:

RENTERS AND ADDITIONAL DRIVERS MUST BE IN POSSESION OF A VALID UNENDORSED DRIVER'S LICENCE IN COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE AND AN AVIS ACCEPTED METHOD OF PAYMENT.

THE LICENCE HAS A PHOTO OR ID/PASSPORT NUMBER ON IT THE LICENCE HAS A SIGNATURE ON IT A VALID PASSPORT A LICENCE THAT HAS BEEN ISSUED IN THE SAME COUNTRY AS THEIR PASSPORT ID/PASSPORT NUMBER SHOULD MATCH THE NUMBER ON THE LICENCE IN THE EVENT THAT A PHOTO IS NOT PRESENT, AN ID DOCUMENT OR PASSPORT WITH A PHOTO IS REQUIRED FOR IDENTIFICATION OF THE RENTER. Collecting & Returning a Vehicle: please provide specific details where the customer should collect their car from and return to. The driver must present driver's licence and/or passport when collecting the vehicle. Please see the Driving Licence/ID Requirements section for more information.

During Office Hours (Weekdays 08h00 - 17h00)
If you are delayed and arrive outside of office hours due to a delayed flight no additional charge will apply.
If you are late we will guarantee your rental for 24 hours. After this time your reserved car may be released and rented to another customer.
Out of Hours Instructions: Out of Office Hours - Collection
It may be possible to collect the vehicle out of office hours. A request reservation is required and expected time of arrival must be noted on the reservation.


Out of Office Hours - Return
If the vehicle is returned outside of office hours the driver is liable for damage or theft until the car has been inspected by a member of Budget staff.
You may return the vehicle out of hours if you request this at the time of booking. There is no charge for this service.
Instructions to return your vehicle outside of office hours: vehicle keys must be placed in the key returns box.

Cross Border Charges

Other Important Information
South Africa, Namibia & Botswana residents do not qualify for any rate that includes unlimited mileage. International Visitors to Southern Africa must present their foreign passport and return airline ticket to qualify for rates with unlimited mileage.
Additonal driver weekend restrictions (rentals from Thurs 00:01-Mon 00:00) Inbound: one additional driver permitted which must be a direct family member. Renters must produce a flight boarding pass/e-ticket printout (within one week of rental check out). Applicable at all locations. Local, weekend, commercial: one additional driver permitted which must be a direct family member. Only applicable at airport locations and Sandton Gautrain, not permitted at off-airport locations. Boarding pass/e-ticket must be produced (flight must be on the same day as the rental check out ). Name on the boarding pass must be the same as the renter. All other local credit card or prepayment rentals: no additional drivers permitted over weekends.
An authorisation amount will be held on the renter's credit card for the duration of the rental. Authorisation amounts will differ on weekend rentals. A call out fee of SAR 700.00 (Incl tax), as a result of customer negligence, will be charged within a 50km radius for all hours. Roadside assistance counter product waivers the cost of the call-out fee for non-mechanicale breadkowns.
There will be a charge of SAR 60.00 (incl tax) for the replacement of key tags should they be lost or damaged. Gauteng e-toll charges will be charged the day after check-in. An e-toll administration fee of SAR 22.00 (Incl tax) will be charged per rental in addition to the relevant e-toll tariffs incurred. There will be a charge of SAR 700.00 (incl tax) for all lost/stolen/damaged e-toll tags. Liability charges apply to all lost/stolen/damaged special equipment: Child safety seats SAR 2100.00 / Bicycle racks: SAR 2900.00 / GPS units SAR 2500.00 (incl tax). Accessory charges will also apply for GPS units and Bicycle Racks per part at cost. A charge of SAR 425.00 will be applied to any reservations where the renter is a no show. Charges for repairs or replacements will apply. A valet charge of SAR 450.00 (incl tax) will apply per vehicle. Paraplegic hand controls are available for drivers with disabilities, however, a 72 hour advance reservation is required (available on car groups E and H).

The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
